"Welcome to Hell, Barclay."
―Harold describing Kent Military.

Harold Aubrey Whitehurst is a cadet private at the Kent Military school, and the roommate of Andy. He is often a target of bullying and ridicule in Kent by his superior officers.

Child's Play 3 (1991)[]

When Andy first enters his room at Kent, he finds Harold locked in the closet, having been bound and gagged by Shelton and his cronies. Harold introduces himself to his new roommate, and warns Andy to be careful of Shelton. Later in the day, all of the students are lined up outside for formation, led by Shelton. He singles out Harold for being "the most pathetic thing he has ever seen". Another student, Kristen, stands up on behalf of Harold, which impresses Andy. During their shooting practice, Harold introduces Andy to Kristen and the two begin to develop feelings for each other.

At night, Andy unpacks his belongings as Harold is forced to polish Shelton's shoes, spitting in them once he finishes. Before Harold leaves the room to wash up, he tells Andy that he was supposed to have a package delivered to him today, which he never received. This is revealed to be Chucky, whom Andy learns is hunting down a boy named Tyler to use him to transfer his soul.

The next morning Sergeant Botnick finds Harold during breakfast, pointing out his "disgraceful" hair, and orders him to report to his station for a haircut. While shaving Whitehurst's hair, he ridicules him for being the sorriest excuse for a soldier that has ever come to Kent, and remarks that he is not cut out to be a soldier. When Botnick asks why he doesn't just leave Kent, Harold comments that he would if he had a choice. He leaves once after being shaved, but comes back shortly after when he remembers that he forgot his jacket. Upon returning, he comes face-to-face with Chucky, having just murdered Botnick. Harold is left terrified by the sight of the living doll, and quickly runs outside as the annual War Games commence. He gets back into formation on the blue team, where Andy notices his fidgetiness. He realizes that Harold has seen Chucky, and tries to confront him over this as their team marches to their base camp. Despite Andy's pleas to save Tyler, Harold refuses to help or speak about Chucky.

Once at the base camp, Harold and Andy settle into their tent to sleep. However, Andy has no intention of sleeping as he stole Shelton's map and is setting out to find Tyler. He again asks for Harold's help, but he insists that he can't. During the night, Shelton discovers his map is missing and decides to abandon the camp and move his troops. His lackey Ellis asks Harold if he knows anything about the missing map, and discovers that Andy is missing. He is deemed a traitor, so Shelton marches his troops out to search for him. Although they find Andy, Kristen goes missing as Chucky has taken her hostage. Using Kristen's radio, he demands Andy give him Tyler in exchange for his hostage. Shelton orders his troops to follow behind Andy and Tyler, unaware that Chucky also contacted the red team to lead them to his location.

Whitehurst's death.

When the red and blue teams converge on Chucky's location, they open fire on each other. But unknown to them, Chucky had switched the red team's paintballs with live bullets. Shelton is killed in the crossfire, which Ellis blames Andy on. During the commotion, Harold spots Chucky throwing a live grenade at the cadets, which they do not see. In order to save them, he leaps on top of the grenade and sacrifices himself, with the grenade exploding and killing him in the process.

Trivia[]
